Horrabridge, on the River Walkham, is an ancient village on the western fringes of Dartmoor which, at one time, had a variety of mines and a high population of miners. There was even, in the 19th century an optimistic goldminer! It boasted, amongst other things, an electric company and a brickmaking firm.

Horrabridge's population is now over 2000 and has a cosmopolitan feel these days. It thrives, with many different organisations, for all age groups and interests.

There is a regular bus service to and from Plymouth and Tavistock and a small range of shops including general store and Post Office.

Walking is popular on Dartmoor and many people park their cars here in order to take advantage of the public footpaths from the village.
